Valencian Community: draft 2030 grid plan includes housing and solar self-consumption
On 15 October MITECO presented a revised proposal for 3.8 GW of additional demand and 2.6 GW of renewable access, mostly solar self-consumption.
What was announced
MITECO discussed the revised 2030 electricity network proposal with the Valencian regional government on 15 October 2026. It remains under consideration, rather than completed infrastructure. Housing has a substantial role, although industry and hydrogen account for most planned additional demand.
The document includes seven new substation switchyards, 754 kilometres of new lines and upgrades to another 718 kilometres. It would serve 3.8 GW of additional transmission-grid demand. Consultation led to 15 extra connection bays supporting distribution networks, industry, housing and hydrogen.
The proposal allocates 2.6 GW of grid access to renewable generation, mainly solar self-consumption. It also provides for 850 MW of pumped-hydro storage, which is not a household battery capacity figure. These are proposed capacities, not installations already delivered.
For owners planning an electrified home in the Valencian Community, this provides context on future network development. It is not a grant application round and guarantees neither connection capacity nor a supply date for a particular property. Those conditions still need individual checks.
