Murcia: draft 2030 electricity plan includes capacity for new homes and self-consumption
On 14 October MITECO outlined the revised Murcia proposal: 1.4 GW of additional demand, over 20% for new homes, and over 670 MW of self-consumption connections.

What was announced
MITECO discussed its revised electricity network plan for the Region of Murcia with the regional government on 14 October 2026. The 2030 plan remains a proposal under consideration. It would serve 1.4 GW of additional transmission-grid demand; new homes account for over 20%, while industry and hydrogen account for 70%.
The proposal includes five new substation switchyards, 297 kilometres of new lines and upgrades to another 79 kilometres. Three switchyards were added after consultation: two for industrial demand and one for housing.
Reinforcement, particularly around Caravaca, aims to integrate solar generation and storage more effectively. The proposal provides for over 670 MW of self-consumption connections. These are planned grid-access capacities, not solar installations already built.
For someone planning a home in Murcia, this provides context on the intended development of the grid. It is not a grant application scheme or a guarantee of connection or a supply date for an individual plot. The illustrative photo shows Caravaca de la Cruz in 2025, not works under the plan.
What it means for your home
Check the individual property’s grid access and available capacity before sizing its electrical systems; the 2030 planning horizon does not replace that check.
