What was announced

On 15 October 2026 the Cabildo of La Palma announced that applications were open for grants to add batteries to island homes. Applicants must be individual homeowners domiciled on La Palma. Both main and second homes qualify in principle; this is not a nationwide or Canary-wide scheme.

The property must already have an operating solar self-consumption installation rated from 1.5 to 15 kWp. Storage must provide at least 2.5 kWh of usable capacity. Solar panels and lead-acid batteries are excluded.

Support is capped at 25% of eligible expenditure and €700 per beneficiary. The initial budget is €77,000, with a possible additional allocation of up to €100,000. Awards are competitive: meeting the requirements does not guarantee funding.

According to the Cabildo, eligible installations must have been completed between 1 January 2025 and 26 October 2026. Payment follows project completion and submission of the required evidence of installation and expenditure, including invoices.

The extract in BOP no. 123 of 14 October, page 28564, sets an application period of 15 working days from the day after publication. This differs from the 26 October installation cut-off. Check the rules and annexes before applying through the accepted registries or Cabildo electronic office; BDNS reference 934316.

What it means for your home

Check domicile, existing solar power, usable battery capacity, dates and documents before ordering. €700 is a ceiling, not an automatic payment.
