Roadside charging: a €150 million proposal
MITECO proposed funding for public roadside charging. Consultation ended on 30 September; this is not an open grant for home chargers.

What was announced
On 9 September, MITECO opened a preliminary consultation on a €150 million programme to support public charging along roads. The proposed funding is linked to the 2021–2027 ERDF framework and concerns infrastructure for electric travel.
The consultation period ended on 30 September. This stage gathers input for the programme; it is not an open funding call and does not establish that a homeowner can already apply for support for a domestic charger.
For drivers, a more complete roadside network could make longer journeys easier. Home charging addresses a different requirement: available electrical capacity, installation design and charging schedules. These needs should be considered separately, and any future funding must be assessed against its official conditions.
What it means for your home
