What was announced

On 22 June, MITECO proposed changes to the information shown on electricity bills. The stated aim was to make tariffs, costs and self-consumption data easier to understand, helping customers interpret their electricity supply.

The consultation closed on 6 July. This news describes that proposal; it does not by itself confirm that every change has entered into force or that suppliers are already using one new standard format.

When assessing solar panels or an EV charger, a bill remains useful for checking contracted power, purchased energy and cost structure. In a home with self-consumption, distinguish own generation, grid consumption and compensation for exported energy. Clearer presentation should not be confused with a guaranteed reduction in the bill.

What it means for your home

Distinguish a proposal from an effective rule and review the official text before changing a contract or installation.
