What was announced

On 2 September, MITECO presented proposed energy-saving auctions to complement the Energy Saving Certificate system, known as CAE. The proposal involves amending Royal Decree 36/2023 and expanding the tools used to encourage efficiency improvements.

The consultation ended on 23 September. This publication describes a regulatory proposal, not an automatic grant for every renovation. Eligible recipients, measures and specific mechanisms must be checked against the rules ultimately applicable.

For a home, replacing equipment or improving insulation requires an assessment of the energy savings that can be substantiated. Lower consumption alone does not establish that work produces a CAE or has approved funding. Project costs and possible financial support should therefore be assessed separately.

What it means for your home

Distinguish a proposal from an effective rule and review the official text before changing a contract or installation.
